Obituary for Erica Petty

America Moya Nunez-Petty was one of six children born to Lydia Maria Nunex and Victor Moya on May 24, 1950, in Samana, Dominican Republic. She and Joseph Petty united in Holy Matrimony on June 29, 1972 in the Virgin Islands. They were blessed with two children. Affectionately known as Erica, she held several jobs as she followed her husband from base to base while he was in the USAF. She worked 26 years in civil service at Fort Sam Houston Finance Office. In all her job assignments, co-workers and employers loved her. She would grow weary with doing some chores, but when it came to cooking, for her family and friends, she never grew tired of that. She took great joy in being in the kitchen cooking, especially when the food was well received. To many she was a beautiful sweet woman. Some called her a Queen or an Angel, but with her being so humble, she had a hard time accepting compliments. She was a "Classy Lady" with a heart of gold. She loved to shop for clothes, shoes and perfume but she loved her family the most and the Word of God. There was never a time she was without her Bible or somewhere praying. Erica leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Joseph, two children, Marilyn Petty and Naomi (Tracy) Phayne; brothers, Mario Moya, Renae Moya and Elmore Lanclos III; sisters, Ana Moya, Monin Moya and Janet Elizee; nephews nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
